To become a 90Ride driver, you must be at least 21 years old, have a valid driver's license, at least one year of driving experience, pass a background check, and have a 4-door vehicle in good condition. We currently prioritize drivers with experience on other rideshare platforms like Uber or Lyft.
The application process begins with downloading the 90Ride Driver app and creating an account. You'll need to submit your driver's license, vehicle registration, insurance information, and proof of your current Uber/Lyft driver status. After your documents are verified and background check completed, you'll be notified when you can start driving.
Background checks typically take 3-5 business days to complete. This comprehensive check includes your driving record, criminal history, and other safety screenings. We'll notify you once the check is complete and your application is approved.
Yes, once approved as a 90Ride driver, you can drive in any active 90Ride market. However, you may need to complete additional requirements for specific markets, such as airport permits or city-specific licenses. Check the app for eligible areas where you can provide rides.
90Ride requires a 4-door vehicle that's 15 years old or newer (2008 or newer for 2023), in good condition with no cosmetic damage, and able to pass a vehicle inspection. The vehicle must have working air conditioning, at least 5 seat belts, and no commercial branding. Eligible vehicles include most sedans, SUVs, and minivans.
As a 90Ride driver, you'll keep at least 90% of each fare after third-party fees, or 80% of the total fare, whichever is higher. Your earnings include a base fare, plus time and distance rates, and any applicable surge pricing or bonuses. Tips are always yours to keep 100%.
90Ride processes weekly payments every Tuesday for all rides completed through Sunday night. Payments are deposited directly into your linked bank account and typically appear within 2-3 business days. If you need your money sooner, you can use our Instant Pay feature to cash out your available earnings up to 5 times per day for a small fee of $0.50 per transaction.
You can track your earnings in real-time through the 90Ride Driver app. The app provides detailed breakdowns of each trip, including base fare, time and distance earnings, tips, and any bonuses or incentives. You can view daily, weekly, and monthly summaries to help with budgeting and tax preparation.
As an independent contractor, you're responsible for your own taxes. 90Ride provides annual 1099 forms to drivers who meet the IRS threshold. We recommend setting aside 25-30% of your earnings for taxes and making quarterly estimated tax payments. Consider tracking your mileage and expenses using a tax app, as many driving expenses are tax-deductible.
Yes, 90Ride offers various bonuses and incentives to help you maximize your earnings. These include trip challenges (complete a certain number of trips to earn extra), surge pricing during high-demand periods, and referral bonuses for bringing new drivers to the platform. Check the app regularly for current promotions in your area.
In case of an accident while online with 90Ride, first ensure everyone's safety and call emergency services if needed. Then, report the accident immediately through the app or call our accident reporting line at 1-888-90RIDE3. 90Ride provides insurance coverage for drivers while online, with different coverage levels depending on whether you're waiting for a ride request, en route to a pickup, or during a trip.
If you find an item left by a rider, report it immediately through the app by going to "Trip History," selecting the relevant trip, and then choosing "Report Lost Item." You can also contact support directly. We'll help connect you with the rider to arrange for the item's return. You'll receive a $15 return fee when you successfully return the item to the rider.
If you encounter a difficult situation with a rider, prioritize your safety. Remain calm and professional, and try to de-escalate the situation. If you feel unsafe, pull over when safe to do so and end the ride. Use the emergency button in the app if necessary. After the ride, report any concerning behavior through the app. 90Ride takes all safety reports seriously and will take appropriate action.
To improve your driver rating, focus on providing a clean and comfortable vehicle, maintaining a professional appearance, being courteous and friendly, following the app's navigation while considering rider preferences, driving safely, and arriving promptly for pickups. Additionally, small amenities like charging cables or bottled water can enhance the rider experience and potentially lead to better ratings and tips.
To update your vehicle information, go to the "Account" section in the 90Ride Driver app, then select "Vehicles." From there, you can add a new vehicle, update information for an existing vehicle, or change your active vehicle. For major changes, you may need to provide updated documentation such as registration or insurance information.
